In the orients, in rural areas, they have a unique alarm system to warn them of danger or of burglars. They utilize an insect in the warm months, (very economical), when it is important to have air circulation and screen doors are a necessity. They make a small match size box container (weaved or platted of straw material or bamboo) and inside thy place a male cricket, with a piece of raw potato for food. The way the male is recognized, is by the absence of an ovipositor, which is a long needle pointed structure from the abdomen. The females use this pointed ovipositor to bury their eggs into the soil. The noise that is generated by the cricket is made by rubbing the wings at a high rate. Since insects are cold blooded, temperature has an effect on the rate of this chirping noise. This little box is then placed by the screen door. There are all kinds of insect sounds that are heard from outdoors, but this one is the loudest, because it is right by the door. Now, when someone approaches the screen door, at night, you know what happens, the chirping cricket stops chirping; and the people wake up, because of this deafening silence. If you remember, when you were a child, and ever tried to catch a cricket. You know that as you approach the place where the cricket sound is coming from, to locate this cricket, and as you get closer, the cricket stops chirping. And you have no idea just exactly where it is located, and as you back away from the spot the cricket starts to chirp again.
Babies are sometimes conditioned to sleeping with the radio on, to accustom them to the noise; and you know what happens, when you turn the radio off, the baby wakes up. The same principle applies here.
One of the signs, in the last days is that of apostasy.
As the midnight hour approaches many Christian are strangely silent, why? Are we hoping that people will get the message of approaching danger by our silence !
Luke 18:8 ..... Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?
