OBJECT:
How to make a screen support.
MATERIALS:
1. SAFETY FIRST: I would suggest that your parents do any cutting, plastic is a little difficult to cut, and there is a possibility of injury to small fingers. Scissors, Fine point magic marker, One large section from a plastic gallon of water or milk, measuring 5 inches by 6 and 1/4 inches. Draw your axis lines ( segmented lines ). The dark or heavy lines are the sections that you will cut. Notice, that the axis that passes through the " belt " there is a half inch section that remains uncut and it attached to bottom and top of the plastic.
2. Draw three lines from the " belt " axis, all lines parallel to the " belt " axis, spaced 1/2 inch apart above the axis and below. Take the line that is one inch above the " belt " axis, and bend it forward as indicated in the diagram. Use your fingers to line up the plastic as you bend it, then repeat the bend with a pair of pliers. Repeat with the bottom half, the line that is one inch below the " belt " axis and bend it forward. Repeat the above procedure, first bending it with your fingers to be accurate, then repeat it with a pair of pliers. Then the line that is 1/2 inch above the " belt " axis make a bend backward, this is that 1/2 section that is attached to the " belt ". Repeat for the other section.
3. You should have a structure that looks like the small picture at the left bottom of the diagram. Staple the edges of the plastic as indicated in the small drawing.
4. Obtain a small section of PVC pipe for measurement, and try to fit the " belt " around the pipe. When you place it on the pipe, try to squeeze the " belt " as tight as you can with your fingers, try to make a crease in the plastic, remove the plastic structure and using pliers bend the belt where you made the crease. Replace the structure ( screen holder ) back on to the pipe, and crease the other side of the belt. So that it make a snug fit. Remove the screen holder and using pliers bend the belt again at the new crease. Replace the screen holder back on to the pipe and see if is a snug fit, it not then repeat until you get a snug fit. Remove the screen holder from the pipe, and put a staple where you made those creases. Replace back on to the pipe and see if is a snug fit, if so, then you may also put another staple at end of the belt. so that you have two staples in the belt.
