The 1998 NASCAR Winston Cup champion, Jeff Gordon, captured his 3rd victory of the
1999 Winston Cup season, with a dominating California 500 win. Gordon lead 148 of the 250 laps for his 45th win

been held at the Virginia State Fairgrounds in Richmond, Va., location of the Richmond International Raceway. The
NASCAR Busch Series has visited the site in every year of its existence. The .542-mile track was demolished in
1988 and replaced with the ultra-modern facility that exists today..

claimed his second Bud Pole of the 1999 NASCAR Busch Series season and his sixth Bud Pole Award of his Busch Series
career. Mark Martin will start second, followed by Kevin Lepage, the 1998 Busch Series Champion and current points
leader, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and starting in the fifth position will be Jeff Green.

Even with Dale Earnhardt JR dominating most of the race, Matt Kenseth was able to
captured his 5th NASCAR Busch Series carreer victory, with his 2nd victory of the 1999 season. Finishing second
was Winston Cup regular Jeff Burton. Dale Earnhardt Jr, who fought back from a lap down spin and a transmission
problem, managed a 3rd place finish. Adam Petty and Elliot Sadler raounded out the top 5 finishers.
