Prospects
I sought for treasures in the mountain,
Panned for nuggets in rushing streams;
Hunted precious stones and metals
In the ancient mountains seams.I searched the seas for sunken vessels
Lost with cargoes of jewels and gold
And scoured the reefs and rocks to find
What wealth the deep might unfold.A wise man long ago said to me,
"Seek riches more than you can spend."
And I, unwise, sought silver and gold,
When the only true wealth is a friend.by Shirley Kelly Mears
