Baked Custard
SERVES :8
Oven Temp:300F
Ingredients:
5 ea Eggs
1/4 t Salt
1 1/2 t Vanilla
1/2 c Sugar
3 c Milk
1/2 t Nutmeg
Instructions: Grease 8 6oz custard cups. Beat eggs, sugar, salt until lemon-colored, (Beat on low). Beat in milk and vanilla gradually. Pour into custard cups. Sprinkle with dash of nutmeg. Set in shallow baking pan. Fill with hot water to fill within 1 inch of top of cups.
Bake 300F for 1 hour or until knife comes out clean.
FOR BREAD PUDDING:
Use 2 eggs and add 3 c white bread cubes to bottom of baking dish. Pour custard over bread cubes, then bake.
Can also sprinkle bread cubes with raisins if you'd like.
