Here is a brief synopsis of his life:

Alexandre's Birth CertificateThis document serves as Alexandre's Brith Certificate because the original certificate was destoyed by fire in Annapolis around 1885-1887.

Alexandre was born on January 9, 1884, in Annapolis, Maryland, USA. He was a Field Assistant at the US Bureau of Entomology from 1904 to 1907. From 1908 to 1909 he was a laboratory assistant for the Illinois State Entomologist, then from 1909 until 1911 he was the Assistant in Entomology at the University of Illinois. In 1911 he traveled to Queensland, Australia where he was the Entomologist at the Bureau of Sugar Experiment Stations, Queensland. Alexandre's Marriage CertificateHere he married his wife, Elizabeth Jeannette Pilcher, and they had their first child, Ernest Alexandre. In 1914, Alexandre returned to the United States and worked for the US Bureau of Entomology in Washington, DC through 1917. His second son and first daughter ( Lawrence Joseph and Helen Joan) were born during this time. In 1917 he returned to Australia to work as the Assistant Entomologist at the Department of Agriculture and Stock in Queensland. He was employed there 1918 and 1919, then again from 1923 until 1930. Most of his collections were gathered in Queensland and New South Wales. His last two children (Daisy Lydia and Frank Stephen) were born in Australia. Alexandre's Death CertificateAccording to the death certificate, Alexandre died on May 2, 1941. The cause of death is listed as Paraphrenia and Exhaustion.
