BarrikiG Fall 96

Hi, my name is Barriki Garden. I was born in St. Kitts in the West Indies. At the age of 5, I was adopted by Heather Garden who is now my Mom. Now I live in Pennsylvania, outside of Philadelphia in the town of Ambler.

I play soccer for the Upper Dublin Magpies, and my position is either right defender or right midfield. I’ve been on this team for two years. I have a very good coach, Mr. Schroeder, and Assistant Coach Mr. Solomon. Last season we were one of the top teams in our league and this season we are undefeated so far. I like my teammates. We communicate well and pass to one another all the time.

I go to Ft. Washington Elementary School in Upper Dublin. I am in fifth grade and will be in middle school next year. My favorite subjects are math and art. I like my classmates and my teachers. I am in the school band and play the trombone. I have been in it for two years now.

I have three dogs and a good Mom. I have an aquarium with 8 fish. There aren’t many kids in my neighborhood, but I do have one good friend whose name is Sylvan. Sylvan is in 7th grade and is on the football team.

I like to ride my bike on my free time. I play basketball in the winter in the Upper Dublin league. Every summer, I go to Canada and stay with my Aunt. This year I took horse back riding lessons. When I am in Canada, I go to a cottage on Lake Huron. I have friends in Canada too and they go to the cottage also.

My birthday is October 24th. I’ll be 11 this year and I am having a bowling party to celebrate it.

I like reggae music and rhythm and blues. My favorite singers are: Michael Jackson, Shaggy, Boyz to Men, Bob Marley and Burning Spear. I like to ready mystery books and books about animals.

I just got a computer for my house. When we get it set up, my Mom is going to get us on the Internet. I am looking forward to reading all about other kids around the world.
