The majority of the treatment process takes place in the Aeration Basins. By controlling conditions such as Flow, Oxygen Levels, pH, and Ammonia in the Basins we can grow the proper microorganisms to achieve the results we want. Below are some photos of common microorganisms found in the Basins which we monitor using microscopes in the laboratory.
Amoebae - Indicator of low Sludge Age in Aeration Basin
Filamentous Bacteria
Fungus - Indicator of low pH in Aeration Basin
Nematode - (Worm) - Indicator of high Sludge
Age in Aeration Basin
Nocardia - A type of Filamentous Bacteria causing brown
scum on Aeration Basins
Peranema - A Flagellate
Rotifer
Spirogyra - A green algae
Stalked Ciliates
