The Photographic Society of Vineland
is open to all those who are interested in photography whether they
are novices, amateurs or professionals.
Through competitions, field trips, workshops, programs, or just through
talking to others about photography, the Society's aim is to help its
members learn more about the art. Advice is always on hand, no matter
how experienced or inexperienced you are.
Meetings are the first Thursday of each
month. Competition registration is from 7-7:30 P.M. The Business meeting
starts at 7:30 P.M.
Membership dues are $25 (prorated whenever
you join). The season runs from January to December. There are no meetings
in July or August.
Merit Award System allows a member to
accumulate points year after year for contest participation, contributions
to PSV, and other photographic achievements. Rules are specifically
outlined in the PSV Merit Award System Rules which are obtainable from
the Merit Awards Chairman. Points accumulated are due in November of
every year.
December is the"Year End Competition".
All winning entries from the current year are judged by outside judges.
A first place is awarded in Color Prints, Monochrome, and Slides. The
first place winners in each Division are re-judged and a "Best
of Show "is selected among them. The Best of Show will appear on
the cover of the PSV program for the coming year.
December, is also, PSV's Awards/Christmas
Banquet, held at a local restaurant. Merit Awards medals, Year End Competition
awards, and Photographer of the Year plaques are presented at this time.
Results of the October "Slide Photo Scavenger Hunt" are viewed
for the first time and awards are presented to the member scoring the
highest accumulated points for each slide.
