These are some Civil War sites we like to visit with a scattering of non Civil War sites. They are in no particular order but we always add any new links at the bottom of the list. TO THE LIMITS OF THE SOUL'S IDEAL  In our opinion, Webmistress Pat Finnegan has the best web site concerning Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain. Bar none!

The American Civil War: The Struggle to Preserve The Union   This excellent site covers many aspects of the Civil War. Among the subjects are leaders of the North and South, battlefield maps, links to many National Battlefield Parks, many photos and much more!

Civil War Skirmish Association   This non-profit organization holds monthly competitive shootings called "Skirmishes", not to be confused with battle reenactments. Lots of photos, an extensive links page and don't miss the video clips. This site is unique!

CIVIL WAR 101: A teacher's viewpoint on the Civil War   As the name implies this site was created and is maintained by a U.S. History school teacher. He covers everything from the causes of the war to reconstruction. A true learning experience!

OFF TO THE CIVIL WAR:    THE SEARCH FOR JOHN WELSEY HARGRAVE OF WILDER'S LIGHTNING BRIGADE:  (A mid-life Crisis Adventure and Travel Essay)   Wow!   We managed to get the whole title to fit. Who said a Civil War site can't be humorous? Whoever it was never saw this priceless little gem by Webmaster Ron Safstrom!

Juckett Family Civil War Letters   Webmaster Daniel Juckett has built a very nice site as a tribute to his Great, Great Grandfather Albert John Juckett and his brother Ashley Juckett who both fought in the Civil War. First person accounts via personal letters makes for stirring reading!

HISTORY CENTRAL:  HISTORY'S HOME ON THE NET   Another name for this mega site could be History of the World! Click around awhile and you'll see what we mean.

THE BATTLE OF GETTYSBURG   This well researched site is also called "Chuck's Gettysburg Page" in some link listings. Each day of the battle is covered in detail. An added bonus is a list of Medal of Honor recipients and the reason each Medal was issued.

The 42nd Indiana Volunteer Infantry   This excellent site contains the roster of the 42nd, Regimental histories, flags, biographies of the men and more. Well worth a visit!

Schriver House Museum  Abandoned for many years, the Schriver House came dangerously close to being condemed. After an extensive restoration in 1996, it now offers visitors an opportunity to discover the Battle of Gettysburg from the civilians' point of view.

Battle of Lone Jack, Missouri   As the Ken Burns series stated, "the Civil War was fought in 10,000 places." On August 16, 1862 Lone Jack, Missouri was the scene of that states bloodiest Civil War battle. This excellent site opened our eyes to a battle we weren't aware of.    A must see!

Andersonville Civil War Prison    Webmaster Kevin Frye did a masterful job with this site of the infamous Andersonville Civil War Prison Camp. For a very modest fee he will even take a series of photos of a grave of your choosing. We're not into rating web sites but if we were this would be right there at the top!

A BARREL OF GENEALOGY LINKS   This high traffic site has hundreds of great history links!

GETTYSBURG  We receive many inquiries about how to plan a visit to Gettysburg and what to see. This is the Official Web Site of the Gettysburg Convention and Visitors Bureau and will provide you with many answers.

American Experience  This excellent site is a gold mine of information. Sections include the Civil War, Native Americans, the Holocaust and much more!

Tennys Internet Exploration Starting Page  Yet another site with links to everything from agriculture to woodworking.

BOB KOCH'S USA CIVIL WAR WEB SITE  Great photos of most of the Civil War battlefields!

The New York City Pictorial/Informational Site  The name says it all!

Historic Cashtown Inn  Just west of Gettysburg this Inn features guest rooms, a cozy tavern and fine dining. Sam Elliott stayed here during the filming of Gettysburg. Innkeepers Dennis and Eileen Hoover will make you feel right at home.

Brig. General Lewis A. Armistead, C.S.A.  Very nice site concerning this great General.

The 9th Regiment Virginia Infantry Company B, "The Baltimore Artillery"  Another fine site by the same webmaster as the one above.

Trailhead Graphics, Inc.  This small company makes Civil War battlefield maps. The maps feature all monuments, markers, tablets, historic roads, hospital sites and more. Maps are available in waterproof/tearproof material. We highly recommend them!

Lancaster County Pennsylvania in the Civil War  This is the web site for the book on the history of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania in the Civil War by Ronald C. Young.

Bob & Louise Trump's Field and Track Page  If you're into field and track this comprehensive site is just the ticket. Very impressive site!

Defend America  We first became aware of this site during a government press conference. This is a great place to support our troops and follow the war on terrorism.

Kathy's Military Links  As the title says, this site has many links related in one way or another to the military. Excellent resource center!

KARING'S KORNER  This site has a nice mix of poetry, music, links and more. Among the many highlights are the "Life" and "Patriot" pages. Beautiful music will accompany you through this heartwarming site.

Warriors Den  The Webmaster is a Marine Corps Vet. News on terrorism, the U.N. and much more. Stop by if for nothing other than saying thank you!

The Battle of Chickamauga  As of today's date (5/14/03) this new site is small but has some great photos and info on Chickamauga. We'd love to see more personal sites such as this one!
