Cassie & Tom's Gettysburg Photos

SEPTEMBER 11, 2001
NEVER FORGET

The epic 3 day battle at Gettysburg was the bloodiest ever fought on American soil. We dedicate our site to those brave soldiers of the North and South who paid the ultimate price while fighting for what they believed in. May they rest in peace.

These are just some of the many photographs we have taken on our trips to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. We have included some historical homes, battlefield monuments and beautiful scenery for you to enjoy. Our love of this area started with the Ken Burns Civil War series.

The madness of war has long passed. All that remains on this battlefield is a deep sense of history. If any of our Gettysburg photos make you want to visit this Civil War Battlefield we will consider it a compliment.

Before you move on to the photographs just a little bit of history.

Prior to the great battle that took place here this was a sleepy village unknown to most of the world. The population was approximately 2,400 people and the town itself, founded by James Gettys, was centered around many crossroads. These crossroads were to be the vehicles that brought the two great armies together on those fateful July days in 1863.

All names used for homes & farms on our site are the names of the people who owned them at the time of the battle. Today in Gettysburg many structures have plaques stating they are original Civil War era buildings.

Disclaimer: We are not historians but simply enjoy history and touring the Gettysburg Battlefield National Park. This site is more of a pictorial essay of the battlefield than it is a history lesson. There are many, many other sites dedicated to exact facts and figures. We have researched all of the information you will see on this site and are comfortable as we can be with the facts we have stated.
