Bogorodskoye Woodcarved toys

Each toy is skillfully hand carved from linden wood in the small Russian village bearing the same name. No automation is used at any stage of the process, save for the wood base and ball. Everything is carved using traditional hand tools. Although there is no formal school that teaches this style of woodcarving, the art form has been endured for over 500 years by being passed down from father to son, from generation to generation. The toys come alive when you simply swing them in a circular motion.

Simple yet sophisticated, each carving posses extraordinary detail. Notice the expressions of joy, bewilderment, or surprise on each bear's or rabbit's face. The perfect gift for someone who has everything.
